From the Philippines to Raleigh — Fighting for District 49
Daran Thomas is a Raleigh entrepreneur, community leader, and father who is done waiting for someone else to fix the problems in District 49.
A Life Built on Hard Work and Community
Daran Thomas was born in the Philippines and came to the United States with a simple belief: if you work hard, show up for your community, and refuse to quit, you can build something great. That belief has guided every chapter of his life.
After settling in Raleigh more than 25 years ago, Daran built a business from the ground up, raised a family, and became deeply rooted in the neighborhoods and communities that make District 49 special.
But over the years, Daran watched as the district's infrastructure crumbled, property taxes climbed, and the voices of everyday residents went unheard in Raleigh. He got tired of complaining about it — so he decided to go fix it.
25+ Years in Raleigh
What Drives Daran
Community First
Every decision Daran makes starts with one question: is this good for the families of District 49?
Business Sense
As an entrepreneur, Daran knows how to stretch a dollar, cut waste, and deliver results — skills Raleigh needs in the legislature.
Inclusive Leadership
Daran's story as an immigrant and small business owner gives him a unique perspective on the diverse communities that make up District 49.
Accountability
Daran believes elected officials should answer to their constituents — not special interests or party bosses.
Entrepreneur. Job Creator. Neighbor.
Daran has spent decades building businesses in the Raleigh area, creating jobs and investing in the local economy. He understands the challenges small business owners face — rising costs, over-regulation, and a tax burden that keeps growing.
That real-world experience is exactly what's missing in the NC House. Daran will bring a business owner's mindset to every vote: practical, results-oriented, and always focused on the bottom line for District 49 families.
